History of Health in Hope Street – Launch Film
Our project will be looking to recruit new volunteers to help us uncover the past and and to help us produce a documentary film, a booklet and a community play. We are also looking for people who lived in the street, have memories of the street and/or memories of the medical centre. We want to be able to record these memories for future generations.
Hope Street Trust is based within the Hope Street Medical Centre and works with older people to help them deal with COPD and Falls related injuries. This project will give older people and youngsters the chance to find out more about the history of health within Hope Street including industrial related diseases and accidents from the docks, illnesses such as typhoid and dysentery due to the massive influx of people living in the street and the first NHS clinic to be built and opened in Grimsby, providing baby formula in the 1940’s.
